Post abortion care training for teaching hospitals in Bandung

Yayasan IPAS Indonesia is committed to supporting the Ministry of Health in expanding access to post abortion care (PAC) services. Post-launch in 2021, the IPAS Indonesia is working with practitioners and academics to increase the capacity of health workers in providing comprehensive and women-centered PAC services.

On this occasion, IPAS Indonesia collaborated with the Faculty of Medicine of Padjajaran University (FK Unpad) to organize training for several teaching hospitals in Bandung. The training was conducted in stages. The first stage was conducted online through three sessions on July 12, 13, and 14, 2022.

This distance learning emphasizes the latest standards and technology for the implementation of comprehensive women-centered care. Through this training, it is expected to refresh the information and knowledge of the medical team and health workers within FK Unpad / RSHS and its network hospitals regarding comprehensive women-centered care with the concept of Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC).

FK Unpad/RSHS has been performing vacuum aspiration procedures for evacuation of the remaining products of conception in certain obstetric cases, but requires refresher and updated information on the latest PAC and methods.

Through this training, it is also expected to identify stigma and discrimination that may arise around miscarriage cases. The training facilitated by Prof. Allison Edelman and Nadia Piedrahita was successfully attended by 63 participants, consisting of midwives, obstetricians and gynecologists, and PPDS (Specialist Doctor Education Program) participants.
