In November 2024, IPAS Indonesia launched two projects in two provinces. The first is the CERAH (Climate Emergency, Reproductive Rights and Health) project in Palu, Central Sulawesi. Then, ARUNIKA (Empowered Women for a Violence-Free Indonesia) in Semarang, Central Java.
The two projects have the same focus on expanding access to health. However, ARUNIKA focuses on services for victims of Gender-Based and Sexual Violence (GBV). Meanwhile, CERAH aims to ensure basic health services are resilient in both disaster and normal conditions.
To strengthen the implementation of the two projects, IPAS Indonesia invited four partners to Jakarta. The two ARUNIKA partners are LBH APIK Semarang and SPEK-HAM Surakarta. Then, Yayasan KPKPST and Yayasan Merah Putih for the CERAH project.
The meeting held on February 4, 2025, discussed more about the project and the coordination scheme including the planning and monitoring scheme. In addition, there were sessions related to administration, reports and communication. The goal is that collaboration between partners and IPAS Indonesia will be smoother from the initial stage until the project is completed.
In addition, there was a special session related to climate change and its impact on health and women’s issues delivered by Greenpeace Indonesia, KHalisa Halid Aid. This session is very tangential to the CERAH project.
SPEK-HAM Surakarta Director Rahayu Purwaningsih said the meeting was a good opportunity to provide capacity building related to the program.
“This partner meeting is a space for partners to build new networks, as well as a good opportunity related to program consolidation including equalizing perceptions of program implementation and other technical matters such as reports and others,” Rahayu said.
Then, Nur Kasanah from LBH APIK Semarang, added that this meeting could increase the capacity of the LBH APIK Semarang team as the implementer of the ARUNIKA program. “Such as better understanding the program implementation plan, activity reports, financial reports and others,” she said.
